With the Premier League season completed and his hiatus from the US national team continuing, Tim Howard took some time out recently to promote his new book, “The Keeper: A Life of Saving Goals and Achieving Them,” on ABC’s Good Morning America.

The 2014 World Cup star used the platform to declare that his break from international soccer is approaching an end. He told host Robin Roberts that he plans to return to the USMNT in September.

“Hopefully September comes soon, and I’ll be back in the fold,” said Howard, who hasn’t worn the Stars and Stripes since picking up a record 16 saves in the USA’s extra-time loss to Belgium in the Round of 16 in Brazil.

Howard’s book, released late last year, details how he overcame psychological and professional challenges in his rise to stardom. In his Good Morning America appearance, he talked about that, offered his thoughts on the FIFA scandal and then stepped in between the pipes while kids from local soccer leagues took aim in a 30-second shootout.

And during the promotional tour for his book, he's getting in some practice of another kind.

He's also rubbing elbows with the stars.
