Toronto FC attacker Sebastian Giovinco has gotten off to a great start in MLS, but is it the best ever?

Sebastian Giovinco has lived up to his billing.

The former Juventus attacker came into MLS at the beginning of the 2015 season and has lit up the league to the tune of seven goals and six assists. In the process, he's helped TFC collect the second-most points per game in the Eastern Conference.

His 13 combined goals and assists is tied with Clint Dempsey for the most in the league. What's more amazing is that he has done this in his first 12 games on North American soil.

Despite his Designated Player status, Giovinco's incredible production was not a given. All you have to do is look at players like Thierry Henry, David Beckham, and Tim Cahill, who all started their MLS careers on a slow note before going on to have a significant impact for their team in the long-term.

Giovinco's 13 combined goals and assists in his first 12 games come up just short of breaking the record for most by a newcomer to MLS in that time period, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The only player to register more was the LA Galaxy's Eduardo Hurtado, whose first 12 games came in MLS' inaugural season.
