American Exports: Greg Garza agrees to three-year contract extension with Club Tijuana

Greg Garza on the run for Tijuana

US national team left back Greg Garza enjoyed his most consistent season yet with Club Tijuana in 2014-15, starting 27 of the team's 34 Liga MX games, more than his total from the previous two-and-a-half seasons combined.

So it was no surprise when, earlier this week, Garza announced via Twitter that he has signed with Club Tijuana for the next three years.

June 1, 2015

Although Garza cracked the starting lineup in 2014-15, Tijuana were a .500 club, finishing 11th in each half of the Mexican season with an 11-11-12 overall record highlighted by a steep late fade in the just-concluded Clausura after spending long periods near the top of the table. A Texas native, Garza joined Tijuana for the 2012 Clausura season.

In the meantime, Garza, who will turn 24 in August, did not make the US squad for friendlies this week against the Netherlands and Germany, due in part to a minor injury. He has made seven appearances for the US over the last two years and could be on Jurgen Klinsmann's radar for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

In the US squad or out, it looks like Garza will continue to wear red and black on a regular basis for the next few years.
