Report: Tweet indicates young forward Jordan Morris has joined USMNT prior to European friendlies

Jordan Morris with the US U-23 national team

The incredible year continues for Stanford University sophomore and Seattle Sounders academy product Jordan Morris.

Having scored in his first start for the US national team on April 15 in a win over Mexico, the 20-year-old has now joined the US squad preparing for friendlies against the Netherlands (Friday, 3pm ET, ESPN2, WatchESPN, UniMás, UDN) and Germany (June 10, 2:45pm ET, FOX Sports 1, UniMás, UDN), according to a Tweet posted by US Soccer on Wednesday morning.

Morris had been with the US Under-23 national team in France, competing at the Toulon Tournament, where he scored the lone US goal in a 3-1 loss to France on May 27. FOX Soccer editor Kyle McCarthy, in Amsterdam to cover the US, also reported that Morris joined the senior team in training on Wednesday.

Although he plays a different position, Morris could be taking the roster spot vacated by the New England Revolution's Jermaine Jones due to a groin injury.

Still with two years of collegiate eligibility remaining, Morris has indicated that he intends to stay at Stanford at least through the 2015 college season, while stating he would like to sign his first professional contract with his hometown Sounders when he does become a professional.

UPDATE: U.S. Soccer has since confirmed that Morris will join the team for the two friendlies.
