AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 13

Perhaps the deepest AT&T Goal of the Week field of the 2015 MLS season has been trimmed down to five candidates, with Colorado’s Sam Cronin, Vancouver’s Gershon Koffie, Seattle’s Marco Pappa, Orlando’s Pedro Ribeiro and Chicago’s Harry Shipp nominated for the Week 13 honors.

Several outstanding goals didn’t make the final cut, with free-kick strikes from RSL’sJavier Morales and New England’sDiego Fagundez, a powerful half-volley from LA rookie Ignacio Maganto and Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardesfinish of a beautifulJose Villarreal backheel left off the list.

All five nominees are looking for their first Goal of the Week win of the season. Two of the five strikes came on the volley, with Cronin taking a Luis Solignac layoff out of the air and smashing a left-footer inside the near post in the Rapids’ 2-1 loss to Portland and Koffie unleashing an otherworldly half-volley from distance in the Whitecaps’ 2-1 win over Salt Lake.

The usually left-foot dominant Pappa is nominated for his righty midweek winner against Colorado, Shipp is in the running for his early rocket in Chicago’s 3-0 win over Montreal and Ribeiro is up for his late, equalizing long-range bomb in Orlando’s 2-2 draw with Columbus.

Which goal was your favorite? Vote now – the winner will be announced on Friday.
