A teammate of soon-to-be LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard on the Liverpool team that won the Champions League in 2005 is showing interest in moving to MLS, with striker Djibril Cisse telling a French outlet this week that “it would be cool” to play in the US.

Cisse, 33, announced earlier this season that he would retire at the end of the Ligue 1 campaign because of a debilitating hip injury. However, the Bastia forward has recently changed course, telling France Football that he’s determined to play again next year.

“As long as I can play, enjoy it, contribute my experience, help the youngsters and older players, I’m happy,” said Cisse, who only has six appearances this season for 11th-place Bastia.

“Clubs still think of me. There are a lot of offers from the USA. India too. I have two or three things in Poland and some which are a little funky, but the USA would be cool.”

Perhaps best known for his time at Liverpool, Cisse has played in the top flights of his native France, England, Italy, Russia and Qatar during his 17-year professional career. A veteran of the 2002 and 2010 World Cups, Cisse amassed 41 career senior caps from 2002-2011.
