AMSTERDAM – Mjondalen center back Rhett Bernstein netted a brace for the second time in four days, with his second strike coming in stoppage time to knock off Tippeligaen leaders Rosenborg 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

The visiting Troll Kids jumped out to a lead midway through the opening frame by hitting twice inside a minute, but Mjondalen responded by scoring twice in the final nine minutes before intermission. Bernstein (picture above, right) leveled matters two minutes before the break from a restart by cleaning up a blocked shot from Joachim Olsen Solberg.

Bernstein also had good set piece chances to give the hosts their first lead of the game in the 59th and 90th minutes, but his headers were deflected out for corner kicks each time. Unbowed, the San Diego native nodded home a long throw-in in added time to give the Brown Army a famous victory.

With four goals in the last two games, Bernstein zoomed up to fifth place on the league scoring chart with four goals. The victory tentatively catapulted newly-promoted Mjondalen up four places to sixth.
