Former Montreal Impact center back Alessandro Nesta expresses desire to "soon" coach in MLS

Alessandro Nesta vs Seattle

Could Alessandro Nesta soon be coaching in MLS? The legendary Italian sure hopes so.

During a Q-and-A session on Heineken's offical soccer account last week, Nesta gave a brief update as to what he's up to these days. He said he is working toward becoming a coach, and then revealed that he would like to take the helm of an MLS club in the not too distant future.

A retired 39-year-old center back who won a World Cup with Italy and a pair of UEFA Champions League trophies with AC Milan, Nesta enjoyed a storied career in Europe before moving to the Montreal Impact in 2012. He spent a season-and-a-half with the club, starting in each of the 31 regular season games he played in while adding an assist.

Nesta then moved to Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League before retiring in 2014, but he still looks back on his time in MLS fondly. In fact, he said would encourage others to make the move there if they have the chance.
