AMSTERDAM – Galway United forward Jake Keegan bagged the insurance tally in a 2-0 League of Ireland victory at Derry City on Friday night.
Four minutes after the rude guests took a lead on 23 minutes, the New York native pounced on a tempting rebound to nod home his second goal of the league season and third of the overall campaign. Thanks to a second consecutive road win, the Tribesmen rose to eighth place.
Over in Germany's 2. Bundesliga, Andrew Wooten (above) set up the Sandhausen capper in a big 4-0 win at RB Leipzig that clinched their league place for next season.
The former US youth international entered as an injury replacement to take up right wing position in the 21st minute. With just over a quarter-hour remaining, Wooten knocked the ball down for Aziz Bouhaddouz to complete his second-half hat trick. The result not only lifted Sandhausen to seventh, it also effectively ended any reasonable hope of promotion this season for Terrence Boyd's Red Bulls.
Finally, in Finland's top flight, Stephen McCarthy drew praise in the heart of the KuPS defense after a 1-0 home victory over HJK. Compatriot Freddy Adu watched on from the dugout as the Yellow-Blacks pulled into fourth place, two points off the top with two games in hand.
