Red vs. Blue. Bulls vs. Blues. Or how about simply NYC Soccer Warz?
There is a multitude of ways to cast the brand-new intracity derby between the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC, which opens at Red Bull Arena on Sunday with the inaugural meeting between the two sides (7 pm ET, Fox Sports 1, FOX Deportes in US, TSN2 in Canada).
But the cross-Gotham matchup between the two New York-area clubs doesn’t have a nickname that has stuck just yet along the lines of other MLS rivalries based on geography like El Capitán (FC Dallas vs. Houston Dynamo), the Cascadia Cup (Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders vs. Vancouver Whitecaps) or the California Clasico (LA Galaxy vs. San Jose Earthquakes).
It's bound to happen organically and there are already a few candidates being bandied about across social media.
