Business up front, party in the back: Benny Feilhaber's got himself a mullet | SIDELINE

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber

Two weeks ago Sporting KC's Benny Feilhaber asked the fans to vote: Mohawk, mullet, or mop-top? He was cutting his hair for charity, and those were the three choices.

The fans have spoken, and the old school "soccer rocker" emerged victorious:

The mullet has a long and glorious history in MLS, of course. Landon Donovan sported one as a kid. Marco Etcheverry - still one of the five best players ever to grace the league - had an absolutely ridiculous one. Bridging the gap was Colombian midfielder and noted Led Zeppelin fan Juan Toja. And pretty much the entire USMNT from '90 to about '95 had some variation of the mullet (Google "Dom Kinnear mullet," we dare you).

Big ups to Benny for paying homage to what is (sadly) a US soccer tradition, and for raising money for charity. But let's all hope that this hideous hairstyle isn't about to have its renaissance.
