New York City FC will be aiming to reverse recent fortunes when they meet the Seattle Sounders for the first time as the clubs clash Sunday evening at Yankee Stadium before a FOX Sports 1 audience. NYCFC are now winless in their last six matches, dropping a 1-0 decision at the Chicago Fire in their last match. The Sounders made it back-to-back wins for the first time this year with a 1-0 win against archrivals Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field last Sunday. Clint Dempsey has scored a goal or recorded an assist in all five league games he’s played this season, netting the game’s only goal against Portland.

  • Stefan Frei recorded his fourth shutout of the season to backstop the Sounders FC victory, tied for the league lead with Clint Irwin (Colorado), David Ousted (Vancouver) and Bobby Shuttleworth (New England).
  • New York City FC saw their winless skid extended to six games – the longest thus far this season in MLS – following their 1-0 loss at the Chicago Fire on Friday evening. It was NYCFC’s second consecutive shutout at the attacking end and their fourth this season.
