Eric LeGrand

The New York Red Bulls got a special visit ahead of Sunday’s match against the LA Galaxy (5 pm ET, ESPN2), with former Rutgers University football player Eric LeGrand speaking with the squad after training on Friday.

LeGrand was paralyzed while playing for Rutgers in the 2010 season, but has since regained movement in his shoulders and sensation throughout his body. Since suffering his injury, LeGrand has worked to help those with spinal cord injuries, raising awareness through media appearances and starting a charity, Team LeGrand of the Christopher & Dana Reevs foundation, dedicated to raising funds to find a cure for paralysis.

LeGrand was speaking to the Red Bulls ahead of Sunday’s “Wings for Life” night at Red Bull Arena, where a portion of ticket proceeds will go directly to the Wings for Life foundation, Red Bull’s charity arm focused on finding a cure for traumatic spinal cord injuries.

LeGrand talks about his visit with the Red Bulls in the above video. Check it out – it’s worth the watch.
