Tim Howard, Everton

AMSTERDAM – Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard continued his Goodison Park mastery of former employers Manchester United on Sunday, notching four saves in his sides’ 3-0 triumph over the Red Devils.

The Toffees star, who also added a pair of cross claims, pulled off his best stop just after halftime, when he foiled Wayne Rooney on the doorstep. Now 4-1-2 lifetime against the Manchester giants at Goodison, Howard extended his shutout run in this home series to 341 minutes and his current EPL shutout streak at home to 380 minutes.

Everton, meanwhile, jumped into the top half of the table on the strength of their fifth win in an unbeaten run of six games.

Over in the 2.Bundesliga, Alfredo Morales and Ingolstadt rallied late, but still had their league lead shaved to five points by a 2-2 draw at Union Berlin.

The US midfielder nearly gave visiting Ingolstadt a 2-0 lead in the 50th minute, but had his long-distance shot blocked and recovered by Union backstop Daniel Haas. Berlin’s Bjorn Jopek scored in the 75th and 79th minutes to give the home side a 2-1 lead, but Ingolstadt’s Tobias Levels equalized in the 82nd.

The result extended Ingolstadt’s unbeaten run to five games, moving the club nine points clear of fourth-place SV Darmstadt in the overall promotion race.
