American duo named to "Top 35 hottest prospects in English football" list | SIDELINE

Gedion Zelalem, Arsenal

With most professional athletes having relatively limited career spans, fans are naturally always on the lookout for the next big thing.

And with the current league seasons in England winding down, attention there turns to the next campaign, and the top prospects who could break through very soon.

Among "The top 35 hottest prospects in English football" as decided by The Telegraph, are two US players, Arsenal attacker Gedion Zelalem and Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Zelalem, 18, who is reportedly working on gaining an exception to a FIFA regulation in order to represent the US, has made appearances for Arsenal's senior team in the FA Cup and the Champions League the past two seasons.

Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers, 16, has been playing with the US U-20 team, including a training camp this week ahead of the U-20 World Cup, which begins at the end of May. He's also rising through the youth ranks at Spurs.

Of course, there's no guarantee that any of the 35 "hottest prospects" will make it to the big time of English soccer, but the future looks bright for many of these players, including the prospective USMNT duo.
