MLS Insider: Sacha Kljestan's soccer career comes full circle with the New York Red Bulls

MLS INSIDER: Sacha Comes Full Circle

Sacha Kljestan's return to Major League Soccer this season with the New York Red Bulls made sense for many reasons, from his ability to lead RBNY's midfield to his desire for his family to live in the US again.

But it also made sense because of his New Jersey roots – he attended Seton Hall University – and because of his long relationship with Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, who mentored Kljestan as a teammate at Chivas USA and as an assistant coach for the US national team.

The common thread between the two? National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee and former Seton Hall coach Manfred Schellscheidt, described by Marsch as "one of the founding fathers of US soccer" and now an emeritus coach in the Red Bulls' youth system.

The latest edition of MLS Insider tells the story of Kljestan's journey to Seton Hall ("the best decision I ever made"), Chivas USA, the US national team and Anderlecht and why he was so motivated to join the Red Bulls.

The episode also goes behind the scenes into the Red Bulls' training sessions, showing how Kljestan's competitive fire has helped him lead a new group of Red Bulls players to the top of the Eastern Conference.
