Two of US Soccer’s biggest stars will appear on one of the country’s most popular shows on Wednesday, with women’s national team strikers Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach set for a special announcement on FOX’s American Idol at 8 pm ET.
Both Morgan and Wambach were named last week to the 23-player US roster for this summer’s FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada. The No. 2 ranked Americans were handed a tough draw in Group D, where they’ll face Australia, Sweden and Nigeria. The US will open play against the Aussies on June 8 in Winnipeg.
No word yet on what exactly Wednesday’s announcement will entail. Might Wambach’s well-publicized break from the NWSL season allow her to launch a singing career? Could Morgan be taking a seat at the judges’ table? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
