Must-see USL goal scored by Sacramento Republic's Rodrigo López | SIDELINE

Portland Timbers midfielder Rodrigo Lopez.

Former Portland Timbers midfielder Rodrigo López has already more than made his mark with defending USL champion Sacramento Republic, winning the league's 2014 regular season and playoff MVP awards and helping the MLS hopefuls to last year's title.

In Wednesday night's game against the Vancouver Whitecaps 2, López produced a moment that could approach legendary status. Up 1-0 in the 71st minute after his own first-half goal, López spotted VWFC2 goalkeeper Spencer Richey off his line and let fly with a 50-yard chip from behind the midfield line to seal the win in spectacular fashion in front of 10,906 fans at Sacramento's Bonney Field.

It's right up there with any midfield goal you've ever seen, including these five MLS goals scored from more than halfway.

If López, head coach Preki, and the Republic's sold-out mid-week crowd have anything to say about it, he'll be back in MLS sooner rather than later.
