Those looking to watch the next chapter in the US-Mexico rivalry need not worry about reports on Tuesday that claimed the game could be called off.

That's the word from U.S. Soccer, following reports in the Mexican press that Wednesday's friendly between the US national team and Mexican national team at the Alamodome in San Antonio could be canceled due to poor field conditions.

"The field installation was not completed when the Mexico National Team representative saw it on Monday," a spokesperson for U.S. Soccer explained to MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. "Improvements have been made in the past 24 hours and the grounds crew will continue to provide maintenance in the lead-up to [Wednesday's] match. The field will be in playable condition in time for [the] match."

Wednesday's game is sold out, and is the first meeting between the two senior national teams since last April, when they played to
a 2-2 draw in Glendale, Arizona
.

Mexico have played a friendly in the Alamodome before, in January 2014, when they defeated South Korea 4-0.
