AMSTERDAM – Brad Guzan and Aston Villa moved three points clear of the Premier League drop zone after a wild, 3-3 home draw against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.
The US goalkeeper claimed four crosses and logged three saves, moving him into a three-way tie for third in the league chart. Guzan also completed nine long boots across midfield on the night.
Though the 16th-place Villans would fall behind twice, Christian Benteke's hat trick strike with seven minutes remaining snapped a two-game losing slide.
Over in Ireland, Morgan Langley went the distance in midfield as St. Patrick's Athletic reached the quarterfinals of the EA Sports Cup with a 4-1 victory at Crumlin United.
The former Philadelphia Union man, who was denied on an early breakaway chance, also drew his first yellow card for the Saints in the second half.
