Once a Premier League target, Fernando Cavenaghi may now prefer a move to MLS instead.

Argentine outlet Paladar Millonario reports that the Argentine striker, now in his third stint with Buenos Aires giants River Plate, is considering a move to MLS when his contract is up this summer.

Cavenaghi, 31, who has four caps with Argentina, started his career with River Plate in 2001 and scored 55 goals in four seasons there before a move to Spartak Moscow. He then made a move to Bordeaux in 2007 for a four-year stint there, leading them to the 2008-09 Ligue 1 title, before moving back to River Plate a second time, Spain’s Villarreal and Mexico's Pachuca.

He re-joined River Plate again last year, but despite being a fan favorite and team captain, he said in the report that moving on would be best for him and the club.

At several stops in his career in Europe, he has garnered interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland.
