Expansion Timeline: Minnesota United becomes MLS' newest expansion team

Expansion Timeline DL

Minnesota finally has an MLS team.

On Wednesday, MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Minnesota United FC owner Dr. Bill McGuire announced that MLS will expand to Minnesota in 2018.

The club is the league's newest franchise, and the first based in the Upper Midwest.

The announcement comes a little less than a year after Atlanta was announced as an expansion team and six months after LA was awarded a new team.
