Hailed by other users as “fascinating” and “beautiful,” the map (high-definition version here), an annual creation of lookuppage7, hints at how professional and semi-professional soccer has grown and evolved in the United States.
It's simultaneously a great snapshot of both how far the sport has come, and – given the blank expanses in a few places – how much territory is still left to enrich. (It's important to note that many of those areas do in fact host lower-division clubs who simply weren't able to qualify for this year's Open Cup.)
