The roster for the first US Under-20 national team camp since the team qualified for this summer’s U-20 World Cup was announced on Sunday, with five MLS players called for the week-long stint in England.
San Jose Earthquakes attacker Tommy Thompson, LA Galaxy forward Bradford Jamieson IV, Sporting Kansas City defender Erik Palmer-Brown, Toronto FC midfielder Marco Delgado and Orlando City SC defender Conor Donovan were called to Tab Ramos’ squad, which will begin training on Monday ahead of friendlies against the Tottenham U-21s on Friday and against the England U-21s next Sunday.
Thompson, Jamieson and Donovan were all part of the team that qualified for the U-20 World Cup at the CONCACAF U-20 Championships in Jamaica in January.
Also in the 20-man group are Fulham midfielder Emerson Hyndman, grandson of former FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman, and former LA Galaxy academy forward Paul Arriola.
The US was drawn into Group A at the U-20 World Cup with hosts New Zealand, Myanmar and Ukraine. The US opens the tournament on May 30 against Myanmar, continues group play on June 2 against New Zealand and wraps the round-robin portion of the tournament against Ukraine on June 5.
This is the first of two camps that the US U-20s will hold before convening for the World Cup. Ramos and his charges will meet in Austria for a camp running from April 18-26 featuring friendlies against Qatar’s and Croatia’s U-20 sides.
