LA Galaxy sign Spanish forward, SuperDraft pick Ignacio Maganto

The LA Galaxy announced the signing of 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick Ignacio Maganto, pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa. The Spanish striker will occupy an International roster spot


“Ignacio had a strong preseason and showed his talent in our games and training sessions,” said Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena in a statement. “We are happy to add him to our roster and look forward to his development going forward.”



Maganto, 23, scored 27 goals and notched 14 assists in four years at Iona College, including a career-high 11 goals and five assists his senior year when he was named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team, the ECAC All-Star First Team and won Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Year honors.


Born in Madrid, the 5-foot-8, 140-lb. Maganto spent five years in Getafe CF’s academy system before he crossed the Atlantic to attend Iona. He also played for PDL side Reading United AC in 2014.
