David Villa & friends hit the studio and make a New York City FC-themed song | SIDELINE

David Villa, New York City FC, Charleston

New York City is the name, you better bet we're going to bring some game. New York City, all the way, New York City, we came to play.

It may not be an official New York City FC song, but this little NYCFC-themed ditty, titled “New York City All the Way,” includes a cameo from Designated Player David Villa.

The Spanish striker credits Irish singer/songwriter Sarah Packiam and rapper MC Sterlin, who are all seeking to inspire NYCFC fans with a jam somewhat reminiscent of Chumbawumba's “Tubthumping,” for those of us who remember that one-hit wonder from the 1990s.

Look, we'll be honest: This track isn't going to enter the Billboard charts. In fact, it might already have become ammunition for the expansion side's crosstown rivals.

But give Villa credit for being a good sport. And good at blowing a whistle into a microphone.
