We’re officially one day away from the start of MLS’s 20th season. All across the continent, teams are preparing for their openers, with the defending champs LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire set to get things started on Friday night at StubHub Center (10 pm ET, UniMas). Remember, SAP is your friend!

WILKINSON TALKS TIMBERS

Portland GM Gavin Wilkinson sat down for a lengthy Q&A with the Timbers website, chatting about club development, the Timbers’ T2 USL side, the club’s academy and the 2015 season in a video interview published on Thursday morning.

Check out the interview below. The Timbers open the season on Saturday, when they’ll host Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake at Providence Park (10:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE).

With the
news cycle dominated by the end of CBA negotiations
on Wednesday night, this interesting bit out of Kansas City got lost in the shuffle: According to Sporting KC president Robb Heineman, the club looks likely to sell 17-year-old defender
Erik Palmer-Brown
to Italian giants Juventus.

The Kansas City Star has more info on the potential transfer, which would likely see Juventus – which sold attacking midfielder Sebastian Giovinco to Toronto FC in January – loan Palmer-Brown back to SKC until he’s ready for regular playing time in Turin.




CATCHING UP WITH CASSAR

Real Salt Lake unveiled a new feature called “Catching up with Cassar” on Wednesday, releasing the first episode of a weekly sit-down series between the Claret-and-Cobalt boss and RSL play-by-play man Bill Riley.

Cassar touched on plenty of topics in the wide-ranging interview, chatting about his team’s recently completed preseason, the new 4-3-3 formation and who’s stepped up in the absence of injured forward Joao Plata. Check out the piece below:





SNOW DAY IN BIG D?

Dallas has gotten hit with some wintry weather this week, with a solid amount of snow falling in North Texas on Wednesday.

That could make things interesting for FC Dallas’ home opener against San Jose, possibly forcing officials to break out the old orange ball on Saturday at Toyota Stadium.


While it could affect conditions this weekend, FCD playmaker Mauro Diaz seemed to be enjoying the weather on Wednesday. Check out his Instagram video below:
