Deportivo Saprissa 0, Club America 3 | CONCACAF Champions League Match Recap

Club America's Oribe Peralta and Paul Aguilar celebrate a goal

Club America made the most of their chances on the road and established their title credentials, blowing past hosts Deportivo Saprissa at the end of the game to claim a 3-0 win Wednesday night in the first leg of their Scotiabank Champions League quarterfinal matchup.

Despite the volume of chances Saprissa were able to create during the encounter, it was America who finally broke through, scoring three goals from the 79th minute through the end of the game.

Pablo Aguilar opened the scoring for the visitors, bursting in at the far post to head home a cross from Rubens Sambueza with 11 minutes remaining in regulation. Mexican international Oribe Peralta netted two more in the 81st and 85th minutes to seal the tie for America, who will face the winner of the Olimpia-Herdiano tie in the CCL quarterfinals.

US-born center back Ventura Alvarado started and played the full 90 minutes for America, who host the return leg of the series on March 4.
