Report: New York Red Bulls II to play second half of USL season at Columbia University

It appears the New York Red Bulls II finally have a home for the second half of the season.

A Tuesday report from EmpireOfSoccer.com indicated the USL side, the official reserve team of the New York Red Bulls, will play their games at Columbia University’s Baker Athletic Complex’s Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, citing an anonymous source as saying it was a “done deal.” The Red Bulls II will play their first seven games at Red Bull Arena, the home of their parent club.

Columbia University’s associate director for facility operations and capital projects Erich Ely also confirmed in the report that Red Bulls II would be playing some games at the Manhattan school but didn’t provide details.

“We will be hosting several USL PRO games,” Ely told EOS in a statement.

EOS first reported the deal in January. There has been no official word from the Red Bulls.

The Baker Athletic Complex is located on the upper tip of Manhattan, bordering the Bronx, and hosts a 3,100-seat stadium.
