American Exports: Aron Johannsson returns to training with hopes of returning to AZ lineup

Aron Jóhannsson scores vs. Ajax

AMSTERDAM – Having sat out their last three Eredivisie contests with an ankle injury, AZ Alkmaat hitman Aron Jóhannsson returned to team training on Monday with hopes of being ready for Saturday's visit from Willem II.

The US forward suffered an ankle sprain shortly after striking a famous lone-goal winner away to derby rivals and champs Ajax on Feb. 5.

"Aron had a full training with the team yesterday and will do so today as well," AZ press officer Daan Schippers told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday morning. "It will depend on the coach whether he will make part of the squad this weekend."

Jóhannsson, who also missed the first 10 league games of the season recovering from a pair of offseason surgeries, has bagged four goals in 14 matches across all competitions.
