Sporting Kansas City and the Colorado Rapids played to a 2-2 draw to open Desert Diamond Cup play in Tucson on Wednesday.
The Rapids jumped out to an early lead, as Gabriel Torres and Dominique Badji scored within a few minutes of each other. At halftime, each team used completely new lineups, and Sporting stormed back, as Krisztian Nemeth scored a penalty in the 77th minute, before Bernardo Anor cracked an equalizer two minutes later. A Rapids trialist, Francisco Flores, was sent off in the second half as well after receiving his second yellow card.
