Report: USMNT's Jurgen Klinsmann uninterested in Aston Villa opening

Jurgen Klinsmann press conference post Panama win

It didn’t take long for Jurgen Klinsmann's name to come off the table as a possible successor to Paul Lambert as Aston Villa head coach.

ESPN FC reported that sources indicated the US national team boss was uninterested in the opening, despite being named as a leading contender, according to oddsmakers, for the position that came open earlier this week along with former Tottenham Hotspur coach Tim Sherwood.

The ESPN FC report claims that Klinsmann is settled in America and happy with his current job leading the USMNT into the 2018 World Cup cycle. Klinsmann was also linked to Tottenham in 2013 – shortly before he signed a contract extension with U.S. Soccer – and the Swiss national team head coaching job.

The former Bayern Munich coach and German international also has reservations about taking over a struggling side with uncertainty over its long-term ownership, the report said.
