USMNT's upcoming friendly vs Mexico in San Antonio breaks ticket sales record

The US national team’s April 15 friendly vs. Mexico at the Alamodome in San Antonio will be played in front of a record crowd.


According to U.S. Soccer, the match has already sold 55,000 tickets, surpassing the previous San Antonio record of 54,313 that were on hand to watch Mexico defeat Korea Republic 4-0 on Jan. 29, 2014.


With the Alamodome’s capacity at 65,000, less than 10,000 tickets remain for the match.



The game marks the first time that the USA and Mexico have met on the soccer field in San Antonio. The most recent friendly between the regional rivals resulted in a 2-2 draw in front of 59,066 fans on April 2, 2014, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
