Veteran Italian-Argentine midfielder Cristian Ledesma is a target for the Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls as he considers his exit from Serie A heavyweights Lazio, according to an Italian media report.

Respected outlet La Gazzetta dello Sportreported on Wednesday that Ledesma, a long-time member of the Roman club, is being wooed by the two Eastern Conference clubs in addition to Italian suitors and English Premier League side Southampton. He is expected to make his move in the summer transfer window, and can call on former Lazio and Milan star Alessandro Nesta for a firsthand perspective on life in MLS.

Ledesma, 32 (pictured above, at left), is a two-way central midfielder capable of protecting the backline and occasionally venturing into attack. He's made 282 appearances for Lazio since joining the club in 2006, but has found his opportunities limited this season, making just seven starts thus far.

A product of Boca Juniors' youth system, Ledesma was born in Argentina but acquired Italian citizenship after he married an Italian during his first stint in Serie A with Lecce. He made a single appearance for Italy's national team in 2010.
