San Jose Earthquakes sign offseason acquisitions Marvell Wynne, Sanna Nyassi and Leandro Barrera

Marvell Wynne

The San Jose Earthquakes made a trio of signings on Wednesday, inking experienced defender Marvell Wynne and midfielders Sanna Nyassi and Leandro Barrera. Per league and club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

A nine-year MLS veteran, Wynne comes to San Jose after spending the last five seasons with Colorado. The 28-year-old center/right back was selected by the Quakes in Stage II of the MLS Re-Entry Draft in December, and has trained with the club throughout preseason before signing with the team on Wednesday. Wynne, who began his career with the New York Red Bulls and spent three years with Toronto FC, has two goals and 18 assists in 236 career regular season appearances.

Like Wynne, Nyassi was selected by San Jose in Stage II of the Re-Entry Draft in December. The 26-year-old winger has six years of MLS experience, playing with the Seattle Sounders in 2009 and 2010 before moving to Vancouver in 2011 and Montreal in 2012. The Gambian spent two-and-a-half years in Montreal before being traded to Chicago halfway through last season. He has 16 goals and 13 assists in 128 career MLS games.

Barrera, 23, was selected by San Jose in December in the MLS Waiver Draft. The Argentine attacker spent last season with Chivas USA, scoring one goal and notching two assists in 32 games – 24 of which were starts – with the now-defunct club.
