KAKA HITS HARDCOURTS

Kaka seems to making new friends in his new town.


The Orlando City SC star dropped in on the Magic’s NBA game Wednesday night, and was honored with a pregame jersey exchange with Victor Oladipo.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK

You make think the life of a professional soccer player in the preseason is all double sessions and scrimmages. Think again. In between the play on the field comes the bread and butter of preseason: photos. Lots of them. Plus videos of players doing tricks inside a studio, kicking a ball hard while indoors, and taping promos for the coming season. This week, Real Salt Lake, who are currently in Southern California, did the dirty work of stepping in front of the camera. Hey, it might be tough, but somebody's got to do it.

IMPACT PART WAYS WITH KROL

Montreal announced on Wednesday that they have terminated defender Krzysztof Krol's contract by mutual agreement. Krol made 12 league appearances for the Impact in 2014.


“This move gives us more flexibility with the salary cap and also frees up an international spot,” said Impact technical director Adam Braz in a team statement. “We wish Krzysztof the best in his future endeavours.”

QUAKES SURPASS 11,000 SEASON TICKETS

The San Jose Earthquakes' home opener at their new Avaya Stadium is approaching quickly (it's March 22 if you aren't in the know), and the club announced a season ticket milestone on Tuesday:

To put that number in context, that's more seats than Buck Shaw Stadium, the Quakes' former home, had altogether.

IMPACT CONTINUE PREPARATIONS IN MEXICO

The Montreal Impact continued their preseason training in Mexico City, facing Cruz Azul in a scrimmage on Tuesday. With the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series against another Liga MX side, Pachuca, coming up soon, the Impact are working on accilimating to the local surroundings while also getting into match fitness. In their latest video diary from Mexico, they gear up for the scrimmage against Cruz Azul, discuss the preseason, and spend a few moments discussing play, with some timely translation between teammates.





KLUTE DISCUSSES "FRESH START" WITH CREW SC

Columbus Crew SC defender Chris Klute may be new to the team for 2015, but the former Colorado Rapids man is excited to be in the new situation, telling ColumbusCrewSC.com on Wednesday, "It’s a fresh start, a new team. It’s just fresh — new everything. I was really excited to be here." Crew SC are getting ready to head to Austin, Tex. for the ATX Pro Classic preseason tournament.
