American Exports: USMNT's Alejandro Bedoya signs new deal to stay at Nantes until 2019

Alejandro Bedoya celebrates a goal for Nantes

AMSTERDAM – Nantes announced Tuesday the completion of a contract extension for Alejandro Bedoya that will keep the US national teamer at the Stade de la Beaujoire until the summer of 2019.

The 27-year-old Boston College product, who has scored seven goals in 54 overall games for the Canaries, had been on a deal that was set to expire at the end of next season.

Despite transfer interest from the likes of Bordeaux and widespread reports that he could leave Nantes in January, Bedoya opted to extend his contract following a second round of negotiations with the club.

The improved deal now allows Bedoya, who has worked 49 Ligue 1 matches, to chase down Carlos Bocanegra's American-record total of 99 games played in the French honor division.
