American Exports: Borussia Dortmund winger Joe Gyau likely to miss rest of season after second surgery

Joe Gyau, Dortmund

AMSTERDAM – Borussia Dortmund winger Joe Gyau is likely out for the season after undergoing a second operation on his left knee on Friday.
The 22-year-old originally went under the knife after suffering a torn meniscus during a US national team friendly against Ecuador on October 10, 2014, but he returned to make a pair of appearances for Dortmund's second team in December.
The comeback was short-lived, however, and Gyau was forced back onto the injury shelf.
"The surgery went well, but his injury is quite serious," BvB press officer Priska Schultz told MLSsoccer.com on Monday. "His knee will be checked again in 8-10 weeks, but he will probably not be able to play for a couple of months [from the time of the exam]."

Gyau, whose contract expires at the end of the season, made his Bundesliga debut for the eight-time German champs in September 2014, hopping off the bench late to help the club rally for a draw against Stuttgart. He also scored twice in 10 appearances for Borussia Dortmund II this term in the 3.Liga.
