American Exports: Greg Garza, Club Tijuana aiming for Liga MX top spot vs. Morelia

Greg Garza on the run for Tijuana

Club Tijuana have won their last four games in all competitions and will move – at least temporarily – to the top of the Liga MX with a home win against Morelia on Friday in round four of games in the Clausura 2015 (10:30 pm ET, ESPN Deportes, Azteca America).

Greg Garza is set for his usual spot at left back, Joe Corona is pushing hard for a start and Alejandro Guido could be in the frame for minutes after impressing in the Copa MX. Paul Arriola has also returned from playing with the US at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship and could also be in contention.

Jonathan Bornstein is back in full training following injury at Querétaro, although it is probably too soon for him to appear in Gallos Blancos’ home match on Friday against Santos Laguna (8:30 pm ET, ESPN Deportes, Azteca America).

On Saturday, it’s another important relegation battle for Michael Orozco, Herculez Gomez and Puebla.

La Franja host Cruz Azul in the Estadio Olímpico de la BUAP desperate for the three points to stop them from falling further behind in the relegation race (6 pm ET, ESPN Deportes, Azteca America).

“We have to go out to win, a draw isn’t enough,” said Orozco ahead of the game, in widely published quotes. “We can’t make errors at the back, we have to remain concentrated for 90 minutes and up front, I know we’ll get a chance to put it in.”

In Mexico City, Club America’s Ventura Alvarado will be hoping for playing time when his side hosts Omar Salgado’s Tigres in Estadio Azteca in a repeat of last season’s final, with the reigning champions under a little pressure having not won in two matches (6 pm ET, Univision Deportes).

Also in action will be Edgar Castillo, whose Atlas team plays at home in Estadio Jalisco against Pumas (10 pm ET, Univision Deportes).

In the Ascenso MX, Sonny Guadarrama’s Atlante play away Friday at Irapuato (9 pm ET), while Juan Pablo Ocegueda’s Alebrijes de Oaxaca are at home Saturday to San Luis (6 pm ET).

There could be two Americans going head to head Saturday in Sinaloa, when Stevie Rodriguez’s Dorados take on Marco Vidal’s Mineros de Zacatecas (8 pm ET).

On Sunday, Austin Guerrero’s Altamira are at home to Celaya (6 p.m. ET).
