American Exports: Gabriel Farfan goes 90 in Copa MX victory for Chiapas

Gabriel Farfan in Chiapas training

Former Chivas USA midfielder Gabriel Farfan has found Liga MX minutes tough to come by for Chiapas of late, but he played his second consecutive 90 minutes in the Copa MX on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old San Diego native’s side defeated Alebrijes de Oaxaca 2-0 on the road in Group 6, although Chiapas remain down in third place in the group after two rounds of matches.

Former US youth international Ernest Nungaray has also been finding minutes in the Copa MX this season. He played the first half of Veracruz’s 0-0 away draw to Altamira. The tie moved Veracruz into first place in Group 2 on five points.

Finally, in Group 5, Emanuel Guzman completed the full match for Mérida in their unexpected 1-0 victory at Toluca, picking up a yellow card in the 56th minute. Former Ventura County Fusion forward Guzman’s team sits atop Group 5, with a perfect seven points – including one bonus point – from its two games.
