Report: Manchester City headed to US this summer, will not play New York City FC

Manchester City will visit the Big Apple after the conclusion of the current English Premier League in May, but the rumored meeting with sister club New York City FC is not in the cards, according to an English media report.

Citing anonymous sources close to the club, the Telegraph reports that the reigning EPL champions will stop through the United States as part of a globetrotting tour which could add up to some 30,000 air miles. Yet the publication has ruled out an MCFC vs. NYCFC match, reversing its own claim from earlier in the week.

The trip will supposedly also include a visit to Australia, where they will set up camp at another sister club, Melbourne City, and face Real Madrid and at least one other opponent in friendly matches. Several prominent City stars are expected to miss out on the trip due to their participation in the 2015 Copa América in Chile.

But despite having played international friendlies at NYCFC's Yankee Stadium home in previous summers, Manchester City apparently will not be taking on the 2015 MLS expansion club just yet.
