Newly signed New York Red Bulls midfielder Sacha Kljestan offered up a few words on Twitter following the Wednesday announcement that he would be returning to MLS.

He first thanked his former team Anderlecht, where has played since his 2010 transfer from Chivas USA, and then thoughts on his new team.

“The last 5 years have been some of the best of my career and I will forever have a Purple Heart,” the US international wrote.

Kljestan became the fourth member of the USMNT to sign with MLS this offseason, following Brek Shea (Orlando City), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC) and Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC). Kljestan scored 15 goals and recorded 33 assists in 114 regular-season games for Chivas USA, helping them to four consecutive playoff appearances and a first-place Western Conference finish in 2007.

He’s being reunited with new Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch, with whom he played with at Chivas USA from 2006-09.

“I am excited for this new challenge and thrilled to be joining such an important club,” he wrote about the Red Bulls. “I can’t wait to get started and help build something that RBNY fans will proud of.”
