Adam Straith finally found a new home.

The 24-year-old, who had been a member of “Unattached FC” for months, signed with Norwegian club Fredrikstad this week. The former member of the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency remained a regular contributor to Benito Floro’s national team despite being without a club; his performances for Canada likely played a part in the defender/midfielder landing his new deal in Norway.

On the topic of new beginnings, David Monsalve earned his first start for his new club, America de Cali in Colombia. The 26-year-old goalkeeper, formerly of Toronto FC and FC Edmonton, played in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo Pereira. Monsalve has come in at a crucial time, as America de Cali is in the midst of a playoff fight, looking for promotion back to Colombia’s top flight.

David Edgar also got his first start in a new uniform this week, going 86 minutes in the midfield for Huddersfield Town in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic. Normally a defender, the 6-foot-4 Edgar recently joined Huddersfield on loan through to the end of the season after seeing his playing time drop at Birmingham City.

Doneil Henry got his second start for West Ham United’s U-21 side, as he played 79 minutes in Monday’s 2-0 loss to Southampton’s U-21s.

Atiba Hutchinson saw his first game action of 2015 on Monday, following a one-game suspension and his club taking a brief break in the schedule. He went the full 90 for Besiktas on Monday in their 2-0 league win over Gençlerbirliği.

Elsewhere in Turkey, Tam Nsaliwa appeared as a late substitute for Bucaspor in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Osmanlispor. Also getting a cameo appearance for his club this week was Tosaint Ricketts, who came on as a sub for Hapoel Haifa in Saturday’s scoreless draw against Maccabi Petah Tikva.

Pedro Pacheco was back at it for CD Santa Clara, going the distance in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Oriental Lisbon. And Simeon Jackson got the start (but didn’t quite reach the full-time whistle) for Coventry City in Saturday’s 0-0 result against Yeovil Town.

Over in Scotland, Dundee FC played twice this week, but Dylan Carreiro didn’t make the matchday lineup on either occasion. For those keeping track, Dundee held Carreiro out of playing for Canada at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship and then, during its four matches in that time, played him a grand total of zero minutes.
