AMSTERDAM – Bolton left back Tim Ream was among the standouts as the second-flight visitors forced a home FA Cup replay by holding Liverpool to a 0-0 draw on Saturday evening.
The St. Louis native enjoyed his usual strong game on the ball while notching a team-high 10 clearances and three pass interceptions. In the 63rd minute, Ream snared a Liverpool pass to start the counter before eventually crossing for Eidur Gudjohnsen to fire over from a good position. The team will reunite to decide their fourth-round tie on either February 4 or 5.
Elsewhere, Daniel Williams went the distance as Reading advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in six years thanks to a last-gasp 2-1 winner at Cardiff City.
Jonathan Spector watched on as Birmingham City fell 2-1 to derby visitors West Bromwich Albion.
