Hours after he had the Major League Soccer MVP trophy named after him, Landon Donovan got to experience another thrill, officially putting Orlando City SC on the clock ahead of their selection of UConn forward Cyle Larinwith the first overall pick in Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft.
Although he admitted he never took part in the draft process himself - he was signed by the San Jose Earthquakes as a teenager in 2001 - Donovan definitely got into it at the podium, pointing vigorously at the Orlando draft table to let them know that the clock was ticking on their pick.
