The New York Red Bulls appear to be close to officially announcing that they will field their own USL PRO team in 2015.

Reports on BigAppleSoccer.com and EmpireOfSoccer.com have Red Bull brass all but confirming that the club will launch an affiliated third-tier club that will field a team this season.

RBNY general manager Marc de Grandpre told EmpireOfSoccer.com that the club was “excited” about fielding a USL PRO side.

“It’s all coming together,” he said. “We have a few things we need to hash out, but it is happening.”

The report also cited a sources that have the new club playing at either Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., or another facility in New York City like Columbia University’s Baker Athletic Complex located on the northern tip of Manhattan.

A source close to the team told MLSsoccer.com on Thursday that while plans for a USL team are not yet finalized, a team within the city limits is a possibility.
