The LA Galaxy announced Tuesday that they have re-signed Alan Gordon, the veteran forward who won his second career MLS Cup with the club last year after a mid-season trade from San Jose.
Per club and MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Gordon, 33, scored five goals and added an assist in 14 regular season appearances, and then appeared in all five of the Galaxy’s postseason games. He played all 30 minutes of extra time during the Galaxy’s 2-1 win over the New England Revolution in the MLS Cup final, earning his second league title after previously winning one with LA in 2005.
A Southern California native, Gordon was traded to LA in August after previously playing with the Earthquakes since 2011. During his time with San Jose, he scored 23 times in MLS, including a career-high 13 goals and seven assists in 2012 that helped lead the Earthquakes to winning the Supporters’ Shield. The 11-year MLS veteran has also spent time with Chivas USA (2010) and Toronto FC (2011).
As a member of the Galaxy from 2004-2010, Gordon scored 16 goals and added 12 assists in over 80 appearances. He was a part of the squads that captured an MLS Cup (2005), Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (2005) and two Western Conference championships (2005, 2009).
