There are three certainties in soccer: death, taxes and 5v2.

While some fans might salivate over the open-ended, full-field play of 11 on 11 soccer, it might not even be the players’ favorite way to play the game. Instead it’s a small but almost ritualistic game played before practices and games, so regular in players’ lives that it’s like a cup of coffee before the commute to work.

The latest episode of the Emmy-nominated MLS Insider looks at the curious and wholly addictive game played by soccer players seemingly since the birth of the game, across all continents. As one player says: “It’s a fun way of playing monkey in the middle as a grown-up.”
