Report: US international Mix Diskerud says move to Club Tijuana not assured

Mix Diskerud’s rumored move to Club Tijuana may not be such a done deal after all.

In comments reported Friday by ESPN FC, the US international midfielder said if he makes a move to the Americas it would be to MLS.

"A Club somewhere in Estados Unidos - if - in the Americas," Diskerud wrote in an email to ESPN FC in response to questions about his plans for 2015. "If I do sign with a new club - it will either be my new or old Club that gets to inform you of it.

"I have had fantastic people, with so much passion for their clubs and our sport approach me lately. I do not want to disappoint anyone. Not now. Not after the season is over either," he continued. "So things are - pretty much the same."

Several reports came out Thursday linking Diskerud – currently a free agent after his contract with Norwegian outfit Rosenborg ran out – with Xolos, where he would join US teammates Joe Corona and Greg Garza.

It’s not the first time Diskerud has said he’d be open to a move to MLS, saying after the United States’ 4-1 loss against Ireland in Dublin that a move to MLS was a possibility but that he was keeping his options open. He’s also previously reported to have been in talks with the Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew SC.

Rosenborg sport director Erik Hoftun has also said that Diskerud is not automatically leaving the Tippeligaen silver medalists, while Tijuana declined to comment on his status.
