Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says club hope to finalize transfer of Brek Shea to Orlando City

Stoke City on Thursday confirmed multiple reports, including those of the Orlando Sentinel, of ongoing talks between the Potters and MLS expansion club Orlando City about a transfer of US national team winger Brek Shea.

According to manager Mark Hughes, the club "envisage Brek completing his move to Orlando."

Shea, who will turn 25 in February, transferred from FC Dallas to Stoke City in January 2013, two years after scoring a career-best 11 goals for Dallas, but has seen more time on loan to Barnsley and Birmingham City than for the Stoke first team.

The rumors of a potential move to Orlando began in the summer, when Shea stopped by for a training stint in June. They were only fueled by his connections to Orlando City GM Paul McDonough, who previously represented Shea, and Orlando president Phil Rawlins, a former member of the Stoke board.
